Hello friends...

My brother was so much more than the title of this blog. To clarify, it was a title I planned to own for a book of my own one day. When I shared it with him, he swore he would steal it from me for his next album. I figured we could share the title together in this blog.

Please feel free to share anything you can about Johnny- stories, pictures, videos, love letters scribbled on napkins, etc. :) I would love to have this be a collective collaboration from Johnny's loved ones, and anyone who knew him knows he had more loved ones than most anyone ever is blessed to find. He touched hearts in a way that very few can.

At the Wake - The Format

"At The Wake"

So far from me, he stands
A man known as disease
He's shaking all the hands of the people he meets
And you now you just don't see me anymore
Well, I've been losing everything
You just don't see me anymore
I'll say goodbye

Since you left, she's a mess
She regrets all the things that she could've said
But we fall asleep, never think of anything
We wake to the sound of a phone as it hits the ground
And now you just don't see me anymore
Well, I've been losing everything
You just don't see me anymore
I'll say goodbye

And, oh at the wake, at the wake
I will turn to see a face
Just a face, just a face
So surrounded by a name
What a name, what a name
And we never want to change
What you gave, what you gave
Never wanna let go

So surround me
I need anything and
You're everything
I want to live like I did
Before all this hit
To sleep in your arms
To think we'll never fall apart
And oh

You know it's, you know it's such a drag
To live your life for a heart attack
To never get a second chance
To say goodbye
To say goodbye
I'll never get to try
You just don't see me anymore
I've been losing everything
I'll say goodbye

So I don't have a lot of happiness to go around just yet. Many songs, posts and writings (coming from me at least!) may be too deep and dark for the faint of heart, but I made this blog so I, and everyone else, can post and say what is in their heart and not be told (as I have been on Facebook to "cheer up, this is my life, smile, blah blah".) Good people trying to be helpful that have no idea what this feels like. I wanted a space for us to just be real. And this song is one of my favorite, though saddest songs I know, but beautiful and every word speaks true from me to my brother (less the part about being able to say goodbye). Thank you Johnny for introducing me to The Format, my favorite band in the world. I feel you everyday in their every song.
