Hello friends...

My brother was so much more than the title of this blog. To clarify, it was a title I planned to own for a book of my own one day. When I shared it with him, he swore he would steal it from me for his next album. I figured we could share the title together in this blog.

Please feel free to share anything you can about Johnny- stories, pictures, videos, love letters scribbled on napkins, etc. :) I would love to have this be a collective collaboration from Johnny's loved ones, and anyone who knew him knows he had more loved ones than most anyone ever is blessed to find. He touched hearts in a way that very few can.

It’s All Temporary

I’ve been going round in circles
writing all the same old lines
trying to make some sense of it all
my theories, confusion
the truth in my rhymes.

It’s all temporary
I say to the ghost in the mirror
each day you look a little thinner
truth is we we could stay lost like this forever
Give me a sign at least
that one day we will get better
something’s gonna come together
we can’t stay lost like this forever    *chorus*

I need you to tell me this life’s worth living
Cuz it’s taking more outta me than it’s giving
I need you to tell me, again we will meet
and it will have been worth all this pain and defeat

It’s all temporary
I say to the ghost in the mirror
each day you look a little thinner
truth is we we could stay lost like this forever
Give me a sign at least
that one day we will get better
something’s gonna come together
we can’t stay lost like this forever

So am I writing your story now?
Am I here to keep your legacy alive?
To try and help her somehow survive?
To go back in time and see,
where we all went wrong when we had a family?
Am I here to fully self destruct?
To find a new way to stay stuck?
Are you gone but I’m still here
because we have the worst of luck?
Truth is, the whole thing is fucked.          *bridge*

A collection of good times in tribute to Johnny. It was made by our dear friend, Thomas (Rum) Berrios, to the song 'Magnolia',  by Johnny and his band The Young Republicans.

We miss and love you so much. Hope you are playing some great music wherever you are.

At the Wake - The Format

"At The Wake"

So far from me, he stands
A man known as disease
He's shaking all the hands of the people he meets
And you now you just don't see me anymore
Well, I've been losing everything
You just don't see me anymore
I'll say goodbye

Since you left, she's a mess
She regrets all the things that she could've said
But we fall asleep, never think of anything
We wake to the sound of a phone as it hits the ground
And now you just don't see me anymore
Well, I've been losing everything
You just don't see me anymore
I'll say goodbye

And, oh at the wake, at the wake
I will turn to see a face
Just a face, just a face
So surrounded by a name
What a name, what a name
And we never want to change
What you gave, what you gave
Never wanna let go

So surround me
I need anything and
You're everything
I want to live like I did
Before all this hit
To sleep in your arms
To think we'll never fall apart
And oh

You know it's, you know it's such a drag
To live your life for a heart attack
To never get a second chance
To say goodbye
To say goodbye
I'll never get to try
You just don't see me anymore
I've been losing everything
I'll say goodbye

Bleeding Out

My chest is filling up too quick
my lungs are too tight
my heart is sick
the blood I lost brought on no drought
it’s seeping still
I’m bleeding out

I keep every word you never said
in a bag tucked away
at the head of my bed
I seep into your world of pain
the dark night of the soul cries out
we are not swans
no lies, just love
what is all this leaving about?

And you all now look the other way
you never promised you would stay
(no one ever does, for me
I’m not “the one who got away”)
and death has such a fragile way
of reconnecting lost hearts
and you think, well that’s a start
but it always seems to dissipate
within a short few days

And letting you be
just a mere memory
is letting go of time
and love and hate
we correlate
to strong for us to rhyme

They mean the same
like guilt and blame
we forever will remain
you stole so many beating hearts
the best now gone forever
one less, to share our name.
